Each review interprets the film slightly differently, but for the most part they all share similar characteristics with a few surprises among them. Each article pays close attention to the reasons for why American public schools are lacking in so many categories. The combination of inadequate tenured teachers, along with the insufficient funds and resources led to this downpour of dropout students and extremely low test scores. The same question continued to come up in each of the three articles as well as the analyses. While watching the film for the very first time, the same questions kept coming to mind, and this was no surprise. What may have been a surprise to most people was that such a low-budget film could receive the Audience Award for best documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and make over six million dollars at the box office, surmounting the initial budget that was spent on the film. The film’s success triggered a variety of different reviews and different opinions. The three articles that were chosen neither left out any important information nor degraded any of the elements that were thought to have been important. A lot of attention was spent discussing several ways to improve public school education all across America, but the most shocking aspect was that it has yet to be accomplished, and until the time comes all we can do is wait.
